There are many kinds of backbends. Some are simple to achieve, some require considerable practice with good supervision and others are appropriate for advanced students who are more familiar with their bodies. Backbends engage every aspect of the body and particularly the spinal column. The spinal column is of major importance in that the entire nervous system stems from it. Every vertebrae is responsible for housing connections to various parts of the body. Therefore each vertabrae needs to stay supple, well oiled with synovial fluid, and functioning. A strong and flexible spinal column is a source for feeling good. Whether you are a beginning, intermediate or advanced student, backbends executed with awareness and patience have much to offer. They open our hearts, replenish our energy and give us inspiration. Workshops are available in beginning, intermediate and advanced levels.
