Body alignment is a valuable tool to balance and protect our joints, muscles, organs, vessels and body tissues. With proper alignment our bodies work more efficiently which decreases stress, strain, and injuries. Learning to align our bodies is the cornerstone for the practice of Iyengar Yoga.
Through the use of props we will gently teach our bodies to correct themselves. By applying alignment principals to our yoga practice, we experience more vitality, relief of stress and an increased sense of well being. The symmetry created helps to integrate our hearts, bodies, minds and Spirits.
Regardless of our perceived difficulties in yoga postures, this workshop will give us clearer ideas on how to go ahead and adapt our bodies to the requirements of the postures. In so doing, we gain strength, stamina, flexibility and balance. We learn to recognize and appreciate the therapeutic value of living in correct alignment.
